I've received the newsletter "Pethealth Inc. Launches PetPoint Lite", but would like to know how to sign-up on June 1 for PetPoint Lite.

Will more information be sent with a link for sign-up?

Also I will be on vacation at that time and others at Hardin Metro SPCA may do this? Will they need to be on your mailing list?

Comment on Overcoming Preconceptions about Indoor Cats by Bobbi Allen

While we agree that the majority of cats are far better off and safer as indoor only companions, we've found that some cats have an intense need to go outdoors. Our adoption policy does not prohibit adopters from allowing cats outside but we do discuss the risks when an applicant indicates that they plan on allowing their new cat out. That said, there have been a number of cats surrendered for inappropriate elimination problems who's owners have tried every trick in the book with no luck. With some of these cats, allowing them access to the outdoors is a viable solution and has solved elimination issues. In fact, a small number of cats with "potty problems" we have adopted out under the condition that the the new owner WILL allow them access to the outdoors. Most cats can live happily indoors, but it would appear that there are some that seem to need to get out. Obviously, flighty or fearful cats are not necessarily candidates for the freedom of the outdoors. A fair compromise for many could be a safely enclosed play yard, and for some individuals, perhaps a harness and lead for outdoor time. There is no debate however that there certainly are a lot of dangers out there, and for many, the benefits do not outweigh the risks.

Two years ago I rescued and adopted a blind English Pointer. I was quite nervous as to how we were all going to adapt. Would he be able to find his way around? Would the other dogs accept him? A blind, high energy dog -would I be able to handle the "extra" care? I should not have worried. It is amazing and heartwarming to see just how well a blind dog can get around. I've had people over who have asked me which dog is the blind one. This dog is sweet, loving, well adjusted and independent. By just following a few simple tips like those listed above, a blind dog can easily fit into a loving home..
